Dr. Yea-Shiuh Lin began her formal piano studies at the age of five. At thirteen, she made her piano solo debut in Taipei and was invited to perform live on the Jen-Shen Public Broadcasting Radio Station. After completing her foundational musical training in Taiwan, she pursued her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) in the United States. During her time at CIM, she refined her artistry in both solo piano and chamber music under the guidance of renowned duo-pianists Thomas Hecht and Sandra Shapiro, collaborative piano mentor Anne Epperson, and the Weilerstein Duo.

In 1994, Dr. Lin received the prestigious Sadie Zellen Piano Prize for Outstanding Musical Development from the Cleveland Institute of Music Piano Department. That same year, she entered the doctoral program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) on a full scholarship, studying under Professor Frank Weinstock and Sandra Rivers.

Throughout her advanced studies in the United States, Dr. Lin performed in numerous masterclasses led by esteemed artists such as Jerome Lowenthal, Mack McCray, and Luba Edlina. As a sought-after collaborative pianist, she played for vocal masterclasses conducted by soprano Ally Amily and vocal coach Warren Jones, and was selected as a private studio accompanist by legendary violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay and cellist Yehuda Hanani.

During her tenure in the United States from 1991 to 1998, Dr. Lin maintained an active performance schedule as a soloist and chamber musician. Key highlights included appearances in the Cleveland Orchestra Benefit Concert Series, the Cincinnati Contemporary Music Festival, and the Bachanalia Music Festival alongside acclaimed cellists Yehuda Hanani, Leslie Parnas, and Shmuel Magan.

In December 1998, Dr. Lin returned to Taiwan upon earning her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree. Since then, she has established a dynamic career as a solo pianist, professional collaborative pianist, and full-time professor in the Music Department at National Sun Yat-sen University.

Her major performance credits include:

Concerto Appearances: Performed with the National Sun Yat-sen University Department of Music Orchestra (2002, 2017) and performed Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the university’s orchestra and choir at the Weiwuying Concert Hall (2026).

Recital and Piano Duo Series: Featured in the Piano Solo Recital Series at the Taipei National Recital Hall (2000–2018) and the Two-Pianos Recital Series with Yueh-Reng Lin (2006–2017).

Chamber Music & Premieres: Concert tours in Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Tokyo with cellist Min-Yuan Lin and violinist Vicki Hsu (2018–2019); world premiere of composer Ying Kuang-Yi’s Reminiscence—For Piano and Orchestra at the Dadong Arts Center (2018); and performances in the Ming-Chia Chamber Music Series featuring A Chopin Musical Feast and Russian Cello Sonatas at the National Taichung Theater Small Theater (2020, 2022).

Collaborative & Ensemble Projects: Performed Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos with pianist Chen-Yu Lien and the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Weiwuying Concert Hall, 2022. In 2023, she founded the teacher-student duo-piano ensemble “Two-Piano Stories”—collaborating with rising pianists Chen-Yu Lien and Chia-Neng Lü and composer Pei-Hsuan Tsai—performing at the Weiwuying Recital Hall. She subsequently performed in the “Two-Piano Carnival” concert series across the National Concert Hall (Taipei), the National Taichung Theater, and Weiwuying (2025).

2009 & 2010: Participated in the recording of soprano Yi-Chia Chan’s vocal albums: In Love with Italy — Soprano Yi-Chia Chan Solo Album and In Love with Italy II — Soprano Yi-Chia Chan Solo Album, released by Himalaya Records. 2023: Co-recorded the album Passionate Russia — Cello and Piano Sonatas with cellist Min-Yuan Lin, released globally across streaming platforms including MyMusic, YouTube, and Amazon Music.

Dr. Lin was selected for inclusion in Asia Pacific Who’s Who (Volume XVI, 2017). Since 2024, she has served as a faculty member for the International Maestro Art Festival.
