As a native of Taiwan, Dr. Horng-Jiun Jason Lin is currently a full-time Assistant Professor of Flute, Conducting, and Music Technology of the Music Department at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. In 2002, Dr. Lin completed his Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance at The Boston Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Doriot Anthony Dwyer, former Principal flute of Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Elinor Preble. He then furthered his graduate studies with Professor Katherine Borst Jones at The Ohio State University, where he was awarded a full-time doctoral fellowship for three years and obtained his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in 2008. In addition to study in Flute Performance, Dr. Lin was also admitted into the graduate program of Wind Conducting as a second major, studied with Dr. Russel Mikkelson, Head of the Conducting department at OSU. Nevertheless, Dr. Lin has won numerous scholarships and awards, including the "First Prize of the Doctor of Music Arts Concerto Competition" at the Ohio State University and performed as the featured soloist with The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Lin now is also the conductor of the National Sun Yat-Sen University Wind Symphony which has won the "First Prize with High Distinction" of Wind Ensemble of the "National Student Music Competition" for two consecutive years.
