Opening Position for A Tenure-Track Faculty in Cello and Piano
General Information:
The Music Department at National Sun Yat-sen University accepts applications with minimum of two years of college teaching experience for full-time faculty positions in Cello and Piano.

Qualification (at least one of the following):
- Doctorate degree in music
- Assistant professor or higher ranking in music
- International Music Competition Awards
Teaching Experience:
- Possess over two years of college teaching experience in music-related disciplines.
- Teaching experience must include major performance, literature, repertoire, pedagogy, etc. (Please attach the course syllabus).
- Ability to offer courses fully in English is preferred
Teaching Duties:
- Applied courses in cello or piano(for cello or piano performance major students)
- Related courses in string or piano including literature, repertoire, pedagogy, etc.
Note: The position also requires supervision of graduate thesis, as well as service on department, college, and university committees as assigned. Proficiency in Chinese is required.

- An official copy of highest degree certificate
- An official transcript for the highest degree
- An official copy of teaching certificate issued by the Ministry of Education (R.O.C.) (optional)
- At least one hard copy of the written materiel , which could be a dissertation, an article, or some other form of scholarly writing about music
- A list of performances/scholarly works with corresponding recordings, video, or other materials
- Three confidential letters of recommendation with recommenders’ contact informations

- Required Information:
a) Applicants who do not hold an assistant professor (or higher) teaching certificate issued by the Ministry of Education but have obtained degree through a written thesis must submit a copy of the thesis.
b) Applicants who do not possess an assistant professor (or higher) teaching certificate issued by the Ministry of Education but have obtained degree through musical performance, external review procedures must be followed. In accordance with the “Regulations Governing the Accreditation of Teachers at Junior Colleges and Higher Educational Institutions,” the following materials must be submitted:
1. Documentation of five or more representative public concerts featuring distinct repertoires.
2. For each type of work, a creative or performance report must be written, which may be consolidated into a single submission for review. The report should include systematic and theoretical discussions of the creative concepts, encompassing the following key elements: • Creative or performance philosophy • Theoretical foundations • Content and form • Methods and techniques (including the creative process) The submitted concert materials should include program details and links to complete audio-visual recordings of the performances.
